Lunch & Nutrition

At Sifton School, parents are responsible for providing snacks, lunch, and water bottles each day.

Morning Meal
Sifton School offers a daily Morning Meal. Any students who wish to access the Morning Meal are welcome to join. There is no direct cost to parents. If you would like your child to have the option of joining Morning Meal, please see the Office for a consent form.

Lunch
If possible, we encourage students to go home for lunch so that they can get some exercise and a break from the school day.

Sifton School provides lunch supervisors, for students who need to stay at school if their parents are at work. If you wish for your child to stay at school for lunch, lunch fees are due on the first day of each month. Microwaves are not available at school.

We are an APPLE school, so we encourage healthy snacks and lunches, containing food from the four main food groups. Healthy eating helps keep students active and energetic for the day! We ask that students do not bring items such as pop, chips, or candies to school.

APPLE Schools – Nutrition Policy

Sifton School has a Nutrition Policy in support of the APPLESchools project. Our goal is to promote, serve, and educate about nutritious foods so that we can have a positive effect on the health and academic achievement of our students. We encourage students to pack a nutritious lunch according to the four food groups and to leave pop and candies at home.

Sifton School partners with APPLE Schools to create a sustainable healthy school community. APPLE Schools is an innovative school-focused health promotion initiative proven to make a difference in schools. It impacts the lives of more than 20,000 students annually in schools across Western Canada by improving their healthy eating, physical activity, and mental health habits. Visit appleschools.ca to learn more.
